“BUILDING GENERATIONS OF PHILANTHROPISTS”
National Philanthropy Day®
(NPD) is set aside across the nation on the fifteenth of November to recognize the great contributions of philanthropy - and those people active in the philanthropic community - for the enrichment of our world. First held in 1986, NPD celebrates the endless daily contributions individuals and organizations across the world make to countless causes and missions. More than 100 chapters of the Association of Fundraising Professionals International play a key role in encouraging giving and volunteering through National Philanthropy Day® activities that highlight each community’s top donors, volunteers, foundations, Spirit of Philanthropy recipients and other individuals and organizations involved with philanthropy.
The 2011 Selections Committee had
many worthy nominations to consider in each of the categories
this year. They did an exemplary job of weighing the merits of
all the nominees and they invite you to join us as we
congratulate the Award Recipients at the NPD Awards Banquet on
Friday, November 18. The banquet will be at the Embassy Suites
Hotel: registration starts at 11:00, luncheon & program
11:30-1:30. Each award recipient will be asked to speak briefly
about their insights into building philanthropy and will receive
a commemorative gift along with being provided with a $250 grant
from AFP-NM in their name to give to the nonprofit of their
choice. Award recipients are also featured in the statewide
New Mexico Business Weekly “Giving Guide” with
their photo and story of their award winning philanthropy.
Our focus this year has been to
build the traditions of philanthropy throughout all generations,
and that focus has encouraged us in continuing to strengthen our
ties with other statewide philanthropic organizations and
supporters, such as the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network.
The YNPN promotes an efficient, viable and inclusive nonprofit
sector that supports the growth, learning and development of
young professionals in their 20s and 30s. YNPN - Central New
Mexico presents awards at the NPD Awards Banquet to recognize
the work and commitment of outstanding young professionals in
the New Mexico nonprofit sector.
BUILD your own tradition of philanthropy by honoring that special person you know who deserves recognition. We all know philanthropists who quietly go about their business by volunteering, giving and being passionately involved in fulfilling the mission of nonprofits. Let these special people know how much you appreciate and value them by recognizing them with a
“Spirit of Philanthropy” award. Each individual who receives a Spirit of Philanthropy award will be listed in the statewide NM Business Weekly Giving Guide, will be recognized in the program at the event and will receive a commemorative award. Since this designation is such a value at $50, you will be able to honor more than just one special philanthropist!

National Philanthropy Day NMBW PARTNERSHIP
AFP-NM is proud to partner with the New Mexico Business Weekly to feature the special edition "Giving Guide" as our official National Philanthropy Day Awards Banquet program. The Giving Guide features photos and stories about each of our 18 statewide Award Recipients, as well as two pages devoted to NPD and AFP. We encourage you to support our partnership by considering the following special offer.
The NMBW Giving Guide is designed to inform and educate business executives you want to attract to your board or to serve as volunteers. Delivered to the NMBW subscribers and at the tables of over 600 National Philanthropy day attendees, this special publication is a stand alone product that lasts all year. By supporting and promoting the charitable organization of your choice, you help inform and educate other business and nonprofit executives about the mission and needs of non-profit groups seeking volunteers and resource assistance.
